ONE HISTORICAL DAY IN CIREBON

In this page, just like the title, I'd like to tell you a story about my last trip in Cirebon. I know Cirebon isn't a popular destination but seriously, it's kinda fun and interesting. Cirebon recently has 3 kingdoms, Keraton Kasepuhan, Keraton Kanoman and Keraton Kacirebonan. So actually, it used to be one kingdom and it's seperated into two, Keraton Kasepuhan and Keraton Kanoman. Why was it separated? Based on my source, it's because brotherhood thing, the older prince and the younger prince wanted to rule a kingdom so they seperated it. Well the other one, Keraton Kacirebonan used to be a part of Keraton Kanoman but it's also seperated. All those kingdoms were united as one and it's built by a muslim preacher, Sunan Gunung Jati that also spreaded Islam in Cirebon by combining Islam lesson with the old tradition.

Welcome to Cirebon!

So first, I didn't go to historical place but maybe I still wanna share it to you. This place is water boom, playground, cottage, and restaurant in a one place called Cirebon Waterland Ade Irma Suryani. I found it on Instagram, so this used to be a usual park on the shore but just few people came there until it renovated and rebuilt into what I told you, a waterland park, and of course because of Instagram posting needs, many people come there to take a picture in the cottage! But sadly, I don't blame it on the waterland but the water on Cirebon's sea is dirty and brown, maybe it's because of the waste or because of the soil, well I came there when it's low tide so I could see the wet soil and it looked gross. I don't know what it'll be if you come there when the sun set. The price of entering that waterland is IDR 25.000 but if you wanna swim, it cost around IDR 50.000.

The second place I visited was Keraton Kasepuhan and I pay IDR 10.000 to enter there but it didn't include entering the museum. To enter the museum, you have to pay IDR 25.000 and it's filled by historical stuffs like the sword if I'm not wrong because I didn't enter there. But I pretty enjoyed looking at the buildings. Each buildings, even gates, have its own descriptions so we'll know what building is that, the function, and the other things. Keraton Kasepuhan is pretty wide and if you want someone to guide you and tell all the history things, just ask for the guide in the ticket box. Actually, there's also place that I had to pay more to enter but I decided not to enter, the price is IDR 10.000. Based on what I saw in the brochure, that place is also historical place with some old buildings but I don't know what buildings those are. I came there on Tuesday so it's kinda quite and I could take a picture as many as I could 😂.

This gate is beautiful, isn't it?

The third place I visited was Keraton Kanoman and it wasn't far from Keraton Kasepuhan so I went by pedicab. What I didn't know before was Keraton Kanoman wasn't like Keraton Kasepuhan which had a ticket to pay to enter there. So Keraton Kanoman wasn't treated good and we can't enter that freely. When I just arrived in Keraton Kanoman, there was a man, asking me about what I would do there and I answered I just wanted to look and explore more about Keraton Kanoman and that man let me in but also guided me without asking me first. Well I continued it and he told me about the building, what's in the building, and some historical spots like a spot where Sunan or the king used to meditate. Because of there's no ticket, I had to pay him and I payed IDR 30.000, well he said I can paid him up to me before. Outside the main building, there were also historical spots like an old gate and an old building but I don't know its function. Also, there's a museum but it's close when I came there. That man said, the guide of the museum left. Well it seemed like Keraton Kanoman really wasn't a good destination to visit. Near Keraton Kanoman, there's a traditional market where I bought Cirebon's special food like Rengginang and Gapit. I also ate Tahu Gejrot there and it was delicious!

The throne in Keraton Kanoman, too creepy for me 😱

It used to be a place to learn Islam but now it used for sholat

A spot for king to meditate

It's outside of Keraton Kanoman area, you can be there for free

I didn't visit the third palace, Keraton Kacirebonan because my time was limited and I was worried if the same thing happened again, I mean I didn't wanna come if Keraton Kacirebonan was like Keraton Kanoman which didn't have that ticket stuff. So I went to Gua Sunyaragi, it was some caves that used to be a place for king to meditate. I love that place because it's wide and really architectural. It's also like a maze, there's a small hall that we can enter and lead us to another cave, it's fun! The caves were really small and contained by many stones and there were also some statues. There's also stairs to take us to the top of the cave! The ticket price to enter Gua Sunyaragi was IDR 10.000 and I love it more than those Keratons. I really recommend you to come to Gua Sunyaragi!!

Looks incredible, doesn't it?

There's also a spot that used to be a fond I thought

Maybe that's all I can share about my trip in Cirebon, you can see more videos on my Instagram @muthihasna and don't forget to eat Nasi Jamblang, Empal Gentong and Rumbah if you're coming to Cirebon!!
